Đã cập nhật: 1 thg 10, 2024

If you missed this exhibition, it's truly unfortunate! The solo exhibition by artist Bùi Trọng Dư, titled "Nàng Sen", took place from October 14 to October 31, 2023, at The Odys Boutique Hotel. This exhibition was a meaningful gift that the artist dedicated to the women of Vietnam, in celebration of Women's Day.

The Beauty of Vietnamese Women through the Lens of Art

The exhibition featured 21 exquisite lacquer paintings, portraying the imagery of lotus flowers and Vietnamese women. Through works like "Youthful Spring," "Early Summer Day," and "Morning at the Lotus Pond," artist Bùi Trọng Dư expressed his deep admiration for the beauty, strength, and resilience of Vietnamese women.

Lotus - A Symbol of the Vietnamese Spirit

The artist shared that the lotus flower is not only the national flower of Vietnam but also serves as a metaphor for Vietnamese women. Just like the lotus rises from the mud yet blooms beautifully and radiates fragrance, Vietnamese women, despite challenges, remain resilient and uphold their dignity.

The "Lotus Lady" exhibition was not only a tribute to women but also an opportunity to promote Vietnamese art and culture to international visitors. The Odys Boutique Hotel, co-organizer of the event, hoped that through these works, guests could gain a deeper appreciation of the unique beauty of Vietnamese culture.

Lacquer Art - The Unique Charm in Bùi Trọng Dư's Paintings

Artist Nguyễn Trung Dũng remarked on Bùi Trọng Dư's work: "The contrast between the lacquer material and simplified forms creates the artist's unique mark in the context of modern Vietnamese art."

About Artist Bùi Trọng Dư

Born in Hải Phòng, the "city of red phoenix flowers," Bùi Trọng Dư built his career in Hanoi. It seems that the saltiness of the sea left a lasting impression on him, and he carried it with him into his artistic journey, blending it with childhood memories. Perhaps that’s why Dư chose a simple and rustic painting style to convey his emotions to the public and art lovers.

Through the medium of lacquer, he successfully expressed his emotions by capturing everyday life’s simplicity. His work is characterized by simplified forms and soft brushstrokes reminiscent of traditional Vietnamese folk paintings. Pieces like "Summer Lotus," "Young Woman with Lotus," and "Flower Vase" depict a harmonious melody of life, with childhood memories such as flocks of birds, frogs, and dragonflies adding to the vibrant innocence of his art.

Mastering lacquer material is the key element that defines his work. The contrast between simplified forms and complex materials has become his signature style, leaving a lasting mark on the Vietnamese art scene during this era of global integration.
